When briefly stopping for a security checkpoint somewhere between Kathmandu and the Tibetan border, I noticed this scene. Every where in Nepal and other 3rd world countries people have painted global brands on their stores and houses, to attract clients for their gods. (note: I meant goods, thanks to Mister Max for pointing this out :))
I have very mixed feelings about this, my background is actually in business and marketing and I am still amazed about how these marketeers have made such a thing possible. But on the other hand this has nothing to do with any original Nepali culture. But on a 3rd hand -?- this is exactly what current Nepali culture is: people working hard trying to get some income and grabbing all opportunities for a better life.
And trust me, the market is there, even for these sugar drinks which are good for nobody. The few Westerners passing here need their connection with home and their sugar rush. And yes, that includes me too :)
